WELCOME

We are proud to announce that 2019 marks the 40-year anniversary of the first Workshop on Modelling Nutrient Digestion and Utilization in Farm Animals (MODNUT), which was first held in Hurley, United Kingdom in 1979.

The workshop began as a gathering of scientists attempting to quantitatively integrate the ever-expanding knowledge of nutrient digestion and utilization. Eight editions later, MODNUT has evolved and matured into the primary forum for mathematical modelers of biological systems, especially in respect to farm animals.

The 9th installment of MODNUT will be held at the Itamambuca Eco Resort, São Paulo, Brazil, from September 14th to September 16th, 2019. It is the fourth MODNUT to be held in the southern hemisphere and the first in South America. There is already a great deal of positive interest amongst our colleagues for this event. By all accounts, it will certainly be a very successful workshop!

The 9th MODNUT will highlight significant new research on animal modelling and will feature oral and poster presentations by attendees and invited speakers. We will focus on combining fundamental, applied, and practical research applications. As such, we invite papers regarding animal, farm, and environmental modelling systems. This follows the same trend as the last MODNUT. Another feature similar to the last MODNUT is to have full research papers published in a well-known journal, Animal.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we encourage our global colleagues to join us and experience our unique Brazilian hospitality. We are certain your journey to Brazil will be more than worthwhile both professionally and personally.

Please let others know who may be interested. We are looking forward to seeing you at the 9th Modelling Nutrient Digestion and Utilization in Farm Animals in Brazil.
